Numerous damages took place during the winter 2018-2019 in the streets of Paris, during the demonstrations of the Yellow Vests. The State has finally been ordered to pay compensation of 1.4 million euros to the municipality.

The French remember it, before the Covid-19 epidemic, every Saturday were marked by demonstrations of magnitude, led by the Yellow Vests , during the winter 2019-2019. A movement involving thugs , who undermined the street furniture as well as shops, in particular in Paris, with damage amounting to several thousand euros. The State was finally ordered to pay the city 1.4 million euros to compensate the municipality.

Between the broken glass panels, the gratings of trees and the torn cobblestones, the streets of the capital suffered numerous damages, which then had to be repaired, a responsibility that fell to the city of Paris. Didier Lallement, Paris police chief, had asked for compensation for the municipality, two and a half years ago, which was rejected. The Town Hall finally brought the case before the administrative court, and was able to obtain success of the case, evoking the "expenses of staff within the cleanliness and environment department hired for cleaning and waste collection".

    This Wednesday, May 4 19, the administrative judge ordered the State to pay the city of Paris a sum of around 1.4 million euros, to cover the costs of the municipality after the demonstrations. Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, welcomed this decision.

    I welcome the decision of the Administrative Court of Paris condemning the State to compensate the City of Paris following the damage suffered during the demonstrations of the yellow vests of 19 and 2019.

    In compensation for its damages, the State will have to pay the City 1.4 million euros.
