Mullen, Team Rosberg Engineering partner for FIVE EV Crossover

EV manufacturer Mullen Automotive, Inc. has reportedly announced a collaboration with German automotive and racing company Team Rosberg Engineering (TRE) GmbH on vehicle chassis and safety development for the startup’s FIVE EV Crossover Program.

Mullen is also working with German automotive engineering firm ARRK on finalizing the structural layout for the FIVE with computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulation loop.

The crossover is set to complete engineering development by 2023, as planned.

The partnership with ARRK was announced earlier in December 2021, with ARRK supporting Mullen with CAE as well as chassis, battery, thermal, interior, closures, infotainment engineering, and body in white.

Team Rosberg Engineering (TRE), which will be responsible for vehicle chassis and safety development was founded by F1 World Champion (1982) Keke Rosberg in 1997 and operates as a development center for the series development of chassis systems.

Currently, Rosberg’s son, Nico Rosberg who is also an F1 World Champion (2016), is managing the company with a primary focus on New Mobility.

David Michery, Chairman and CEO, Mullen Automotive, has said that the engineering work for its FIVE EV is progressing in full swing and that the company has been making rapid progress due to its incredible partners.

He added that these news partnerships will help accelerate Mullen’s path to begin production, which it had earlier lined up for the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.

Michery added that it was a great privilege for the company to have companies such as Team Rosberg and ARRK involved in the development of FIVE. 

The Mullen FIVE was announced last year in 2021, as a sport utility model built on an EV Crossover skateboard platform and has multiple powertrain configurations.

The startup claims that the EV crossover will have a 120 kWh battery, 325 miles range, and can reach from 0mph to 60mph in 3.25 seconds, with the price of base models set at $55,000.
