Shiprocket completes acquisition of Omuni for USD 25.01 Million

Shiprocket, a Delhi-based logistics startup, has reportedly completed the acquisition of Omuni, the omnichannel technology business of textile company Arvind Ltd for USD 25.01 million (Rs 200 crore).

The cash and equity deal comes one month after Shiprocket acquired logistics firm Pickrr for USD 200 million.

According to Shiprocket, the acquisition will ease efficient and quick shipment deliveries from the nearest warehouse or store, substantially reducing delivery times and improving the consumer experience.

While most retailers are implementing an omnichannel retail strategy to fulfill consumer services across physical and digital storefronts, this acquisition will deliver a seamless and robust post-purchase customer experience.

Both companies are important partners in a broader D2C (direct-to-consumer) commerce enablement segment. As per claims from Shiprocket, the company has more than 2.5 lakh sellers as clients who produce an annual gross merchandise value of USD 2.5 billion.

The company believes that Omuni’s SaaS products will enable it to unify orders, inventory, catalog, pricing, content, and data across digital and physical storefronts to offer the best e-commerce consumer experience.

Shiprocket CEO and Co-Founder Saahil Goel stated that companies together intend to enable omnichannel retail to transform e-commerce logistics.

The logistics firm asserted that it delivers packages to over 70 million consumers every year and is witnessing almost three-fold year-on-year growth in the number of transactions.

Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Director at Arvind Ltd has cited that the organization has developed an industry-leading product like Omuni that is used by major brands in the country.

Lalbhai added that the combination of the company’s retail stock with the Shiprocket Ecosystem will create an extensive retail store inventory available for sale through Shiprocket’s logistics.

Meanwhile, Shiprocket recently launched new services for smooth cross-border shipping through more than 220 countries including the UK, the U.S., Germany, and Australia.
